The 32nd Odisha State Wushu Championship 2026–27 concluded successfully at Hotel Suncity Palace, Belpahar, Jharsuguda, following three days of intense competition from 21–23 August 2026.

Organised by the Wushu Association of Orissa (WAO) and hosted by the Jharsuguda District Wushu Association, in association with TRL Krosaki, the championship brought together more than 400 athletes representing districts from across Odisha. Competitions were conducted across the Sub-Junior, Junior and Senior categories in Taolu and Sanda.

The championship showcased the growing depth of Wushu talent in Odisha while providing athletes with a structured platform to compete at the state level and progress towards national and international opportunities.

Strong Technical & Officiating Structure

The Wushu Association of Orissa constituted a team of more than 20 technical officials to ensure the professional conduct of the championship.

The competition was conducted under the technical supervision of Mr. Pradyumna Behera, Technical Director, Wushu Association of Orissa.

The dedicated technical structure ensured consistent application of competition rules and judging standards throughout the three-day championship.

Advancing Digital Competition Management

The 32nd State Championship marked another important step in the digital transformation of Wushu competition management in Odisha.

The online scoring system was originally introduced at the 30th Odisha State Wushu Championship and was subsequently continued and utilised during the 31st State Wushu Championship. Its implementation provided the Association with valuable practical experience in deploying technology for competition scoring and management.

At the 32nd State Championship, WAO achieved another significant milestone with the first-ever implementation of online registration for all participating athletes. For the first time, athlete registration for the State Championship was conducted through a centralised online process, enabling systematic collection and management of athlete and participation data from districts across Odisha.

The online registration initiative, together with the continued use and further deployment of the digital scoring system, represents an important move towards more efficient, transparent and data-driven competition administration.

The digital systems were developed and implemented under the leadership and guidance of Er. S. S. Harichandan, Chairman, WAO, and Mr. Pradyumna Behera, Technical Director, WAO, with the technology development and implementation undertaken by the IT team of Dsekai Solution, led by Dr. Kumar Debdutt and his team.

The successful implementation at the 32nd Championship provides a foundation for WAO to further develop digital systems for athlete management, competition administration, scoring and technical operations in future championships.

Strengthening the Future of Wushu in Odisha

The 32nd Odisha State Wushu Championship represents another significant milestone in the continued development of Wushu in the state.

With more than 400 athletes, a technical team of 20+ officials, structured judging across Taolu and Sanda, continued digital scoring and the first statewide implementation of online athlete registration, the championship combined sporting excellence with progressive competition management.

The evolution of the digital systems—from the introduction of online scoring at the 30th State Championship, its continued use at the 31st, to the introduction of comprehensive online athlete registration at the 32nd—reflects WAO's approach towards progressively modernising the administration of Wushu while maintaining strong technical and sporting standards.

The championship further strengthens the pathway for Odisha's athletes and officials towards National Championships, National Games, Khelo India competitions, School Games, University competitions and international representation.

The 32nd State Championship therefore concluded as more than a competition—it marked another step towards building a modern, transparent and technically strong Wushu ecosystem in Odisha.
